Homemade Bread and Blackberry Jam

So this wonderful loaf of bread you see would make you think it is my latest creation but on the contrary its Carson's. Lately Carson had been making whole wheat bread for us. He has enjoyed making it and we have enjoyed eating it. He has even ground the wheat and has not used a bread machine but their has been a lot of help from the "Bosch". Last week Carson picked some blackberries from his parents farm and we had a bunch left over after making cobbler. So I decided to make some blackberry jam with it. It has been a good addition to the bread.What could be better than homemade bread and jam? Yummy!

Gone Fishin'

Last week we went out to the Ammons' farm with some of my girlfriends and their kids. Some took the canoe around the pond, some pet the horses and calf and others just had a great time running around. One girl walked by me (Amelia) and said, "This place is amazing!" I had to laugh knowing that my father in-law would be pleased to know that some young kids loved his place as much as he does. Carter and I had fun trying to fish. We didn't catch anything but Carter had a lot of fun reelling in the line. Maybe next time we'll catch one or should I say Carson will help him catch one. If we did catch a fish I wouldn't know what to do if we did. Probably squirm and squeal.

This last week we went to Arizona to go a family reunion on my Dad's side. It was great to see everyone and spend time with the family. I don't get to see my family very much so it is special when I do. We camped on the rim where it was pretty and cool.We all had a good time. Carter had fun throwing sticks and rocks, going on walks and going fishing. He spent a lot of time with his Grandma and would hardly let her out of his sight. Although he did have a good time fishing with Grandpa and Uncle Nathan. Matthew had a blast getting dirty. I tried to keep him as clean as possible but then I gave up and let him do what he does best, get dirty. Carson's favorite part would have to be the whiffle ball game and coming in second would be playing "hearts." He probably would have said he enjoyed fishing but he ended up with a sunburn because of it. I loved the opportunity I had to play some card games, a true Call tradition I don't do enough. Blogging has been a great way to keep in touch with all my cousins in Arizona but it was better to actually spend time with them and their kids. I believe there are eight kids 2 and under, crazy! At one of the activities they made a DVD of the past reunions (thanks Shantelle) and it made me very grateful for the opportunity I have to be part of such an amazing family. Even though I live far away I still feel a close connection to all of them. I have Grandma Call to thank for this. She was right when she said she had the best family in the world. And thank you to everyone who made it a great 41st Call Family Reunion.

This past week Wal-Mart hosted a share holders convention, so to keep them all happy, for entertainment they put on a couple of concerts. One of them being Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood on Thursday night. It was open to the public so Carson and I went with some friends. The best part was that it was free, yup free!!! It was so much fun. Carrie Underwood did great but the highlight was Keith Urban. He is a great entertainer, he even traded his guitar for a fan's cowboy hat. I hope Wal-Mart does this again next year. It brought in so many people from all over the world. The next day I was at the mall and some Asian women took pictures of Matt. They would have taken a picture of Carter if he would have let them. I guess they couldn't resist the cuteness of my All-American boy.

This past weekend we celebrated Matt's 1st birthday by throwing him a Luau. We picked up this idea when we lived in Hawaii and now it seems like it's going to be a tradition of ours. We invited family and all of our friends that had babies this past year. There was a lot of great people and a lot of great food. I can't take credit for the yummy food though, I have to thank the Dumuni's for that. The food was far better than any Hawaiian food I ever had in Hawaii. Matthew definitely seemed to enjoy himself. He was getting a lot of attention and when it came time for the cake he had a ball (with a little nudging at first). I am so thankful for everyones help, I am blessed to have so many wonderful people in my life. But most importantly I am thankful for Matthew. I can't believe he has been in our lives a year, it seems to have gone by so fast. He has such a sweet personality and Carson and I couldn't feel more blessed to be privileged to raise such a wonderful boy. We love you Matthew! Happy 1st Birthday!
